Exhibition Title
The Kingdom of the Renaissance
Exhibition Description
Sprüth Magers is pleased to participate in Master Drawings with The Kingdom of the Renaissance, an exhibition of works by Karen Kilimnik and her old master predecessors, curated by Mireille Mosler. Inspired by a range of sources, from old masters to pop culture, Kilimnik conjoins elements to construct her own universe. From the Prague menagerie in the thirteenth century through to celebrities’ pooches, the artist transports her inner imaginary world through source material procured from magazines and museum postcards. Early works on paper from the 1980s, oil sketches and recent paintings are paired with Renaissance sculptures, paintings and drawings.

About The Gallery
Since 1983, Sprüth Magers has expanded from its roots in the Rhineland to become an international gallery dedicated to exhibiting the very best in modern and contemporary art. Now with galleries located in Berlin, London, Los Angeles, and NYC, Sprüth Magers retains close ties with the studios and communities of the European and American artists who form the core of its roster.
For nearly 40 years the gallery has been representing established artists such as George Condo, Barbara Kruger, Cindy Sherman, Rosemarie Trockel, Louise Lawler, Ed Ruscha, & Jenny Holzer, as well as the estates of Bernd & Hilla Becher, John Baldessari, Otto Piene, Richard Artschwager, and others. With this historical foundation the gallery continues to be a pillar of the international art scene into the future.
